Damage appraisal and estimating requests in Los Angeles County

Keep the assignment moving with a clear plan for the estimate, the inspection and the supporting documentation. California United Appraisals reviews Los Angeles County requests from insurers, repair facilities and people who need a third-party damage estimate.

Start with where the vehicle is now

A vehicle may be at the owner’s home, a collision facility or another storage location by the time an appraisal is requested. Give us its current address rather than relying only on the loss location. Include the person who can provide access and any appointment restrictions.

If a shop has already prepared an estimate, send it with your request and explain whether you need an independent initial estimate, a review or a supplement. This helps avoid duplicating work or sending the wrong type of assignment.

Find your location

Requests may involve Los Angeles, Sunland–Tujunga, Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, Santa Clarita, Palmdale, Santa Monica or Calabasas. If your city is not listed, include it in the assignment request. This is a request directory, not a list of branch offices or a guarantee of an inspection appointment.

Field and remote options

A local field inspection can be requested by appointment, subject to availability and safe access. Photo-based estimating may be considered when the supplied documentation is suitable. Some assignments require more evidence or a different inspection method.

For repair shops, additional damage should be tied to the original estimate and supported with clear photographs or repair documentation. For carrier assignments, include the requesting contact and any file instructions.

Before an appointment is arranged

  • Confirm the vehicle has not moved and identify the access contact.

  • Tell us whether a prior estimate or supplement already exists.

  • Describe any teardown status or access restrictions without moving or dismantling the vehicle for photos.

  • Identify the requested deliverable and the party authorizing the work.

Where to send the assignment

Use the assignment form for your contact details, the vehicle’s current city and state, and the work requested. Include an existing file reference when asking about a supplement. For document-delivery questions, contact claims@cu-appraisals.com. Send only material you are authorized to share and relevant to the assignment.

Choose the right estimating task

For body shops and individual third-party requesters, the published standard rate for a regular auto or truck initial estimate is $200. A supplement on a standard assignment is an additional $75. Estimates for 18-wheelers, tractors and trailers are $450. Insurance-company contract rates are negotiated. Other specialty scope and any inspection arrangements are confirmed before work begins.

  • Initial estimate: identify the vehicle and provide the available damage documentation.

  • Supplement: provide the current estimate and explain the newly documented damage or operations.

  • Requested field inspection: give the present location and the person authorized to arrange access.
