Prepare a supplement that explains what changed

A supplement request should connect additional documented damage or operations to an existing estimate. Organizing that information helps the reviewer understand the change and reduces confusion between a new assignment and an update to a current file.

Begin with the original file

Include the current estimate and identify any prior supplements. Use the same vehicle details and claim or reference number across the submission. Tell us who is requesting the work and who can answer questions about the repair documentation.

Explain each requested addition

Describe the additional damage or operation and the reason it is being submitted. Match it to photographs or relevant supporting records. If the request depends on measurements, teardown findings or repair documentation, include the available evidence and identify anything still outstanding.

Build the document package

  • Original estimate and the most current version of any supplement.

  • Overall and detail photos that place the additional damage in context.

  • Relevant measurements, repair documentation or invoices, where applicable to the request.

  • A short explanation of what changed and the contact for clarification.

Keep unrelated records out

Prepare only the information needed for the estimating assignment. Before sending the package, confirm the appropriate delivery method with the assignment contact. Do not include unrelated medical, financial or identity records. Ask how to handle any document containing information that is not needed for the work.

Understand the fee and result

For body shops and individuals, an additional supplement for a standard auto or regular-truck estimate is $75. Insurance-company contract rates are negotiated. Supplement pricing for heavy or other specialty assignments must be confirmed separately. Preparation of a supplement does not guarantee that an insurer will accept every requested item or issue payment.

Common questions

What if the additional damage is not visible in a photo?

Explain what information is available and what has not been established. Additional documentation or a physical inspection may be needed before the requested item can be evaluated.
