Service scope and assignment requirements

This page explains the information and scope to discuss before an estimating assignment. It is not a customer contract, a coverage decision or acceptance of a submitted request.

Identify the requested work

Tell us who is requesting the assignment, the vehicle or equipment involved, its location and the deliverable you need. An initial estimate, supplement, existing-estimate review and field inspection are different requests. Availability and the suitability of remote review depend on the actual file.

Submitting an inquiry or documents does not establish an inspection appointment or guarantee that the requested work has been accepted. Confirm scope, pricing, timing and document-delivery arrangements with California United Appraisals before relying on a proposed schedule.

Provide relevant, authorized information

Share only information you are authorized to provide. Identify the current estimate version, any prior supplements and the source of supporting documentation. Keep your own copies. Do not include unrelated medical, financial or identity records in an initial inquiry.

Understand the limits of the evidence

Photographs do not reveal every condition. More images, measurements, repair-facility findings or an inspection may be needed. A repair estimate does not itself determine policy coverage, authorize repair work or guarantee reimbursement. Specialized damage estimating is not an operational-safety, airworthiness or marine-safety certification.

Published estimating rates

For body shops and individuals, a standard regular-auto or truck initial estimate is $200, with an additional $75 for a standard-assignment supplement. An estimate for an 18-wheeler, tractor or trailer is $450. Insurance-company contract rates are negotiated.

Confirm the price for other specialty work, heavy-equipment supplements or a different scope. Do not assume that an initial-estimate price includes every possible review or additional service.

Questions before proceeding

Ask about the specific payment arrangements, delivery format, revisions, cancellations and any other requirements relevant to your assignment. This general information page does not create a refund policy, impose cancellation fees or replace a separately agreed engagement.
