Review an existing estimate with its supporting evidence

A desk review starts with a defined question and an existing estimate. California United Appraisals reviews assignment requests involving an estimate, photographs and relevant documents so the requested work is clear before it begins.

Start with a brief inquiry describing the work you need and the documents already available. We will confirm the assignment scope and how to provide supporting material before work begins.

Define the review question

Tell us what you need examined: the documented scope, an estimate revision, a difference between versions or another specified issue. A desk review is not automatically a new estimate, a field inspection or a determination of coverage.

Provide the complete reference set

The reviewer needs to know which estimate is current and what information was available when it was prepared. Clearly labeled versions and supporting documents reduce ambiguity.

  • Estimate to be reviewed, with date/version

  • Assignment instructions and intended use

  • Relevant damage photographs

  • Prior supplements and supporting records

  • Specific questions or areas needing explanation

Keep the client and role clear

Identify who is assigning the review and the relationship to the file. Carrier instructions, repair-shop requests and owner questions may require different scopes. Potential conflicts and authority to share documents must be addressed before proceeding.

Evidence limits the conclusion

If the documentation does not support a reliable assessment of a requested item, further information or inspection may be needed. We do not treat missing photographs as proof that damage does or does not exist.

Request a scope review

Desk-review scope and pricing are confirmed for the work requested. Insurance-company contract pricing is negotiated. Do not assume that the published initial-estimate rate includes every review or specialized file audit.

Common questions

Will a review replace the original estimate?

Only if a new or revised estimate is part of the agreed assignment. Define the deliverable before work begins.

Can you review a supplement?

You can submit the estimate history and supporting evidence for scope review. Clearly state which version and changes require attention.
